Artisan and the Spring/Summer Finders Keepers

Working on a lot of projects at the moment.

As part of the RAWards finals coming up next month I’m producing on some really large pieces along with some visuals I will start getting these up on vimeo in the next few days.

The good folk at the fortitude valley (m)art Artisan store have placed some of work for sale there too. They’re home to some of the best art and jewellery in brisbane so always worth a visit when you’re in the valley.

In the lead up to the RAWards I will selling a lot of my latest pieces at the Finders Keepers Spring/Summer Markets..2nd and 3rd of November – I’ve been making new efflorescence rings lately – Including these double pearl pieces (below). Its on all weekend at Brisbane Old Mueseum. Its Free. With bands and German sausages. What more incentive do you need?

It’s been a while between posts. Since returning to Brisbane there’s been little time to write between work and preparing enough pieces for the upcoming show.

In the meantime I've finished a new logo and some fine new cards + packaging

Of course, all of these things would not look as grand without the help and advice from my good friend (and very talented designer) Shayna (thank-you!). And just as importantly, Asiya, who has helped each step of the way… the number of times she has endured the phrase “better or worse… better or worse” is a testament to her patience.

The weekend past I also had the good fortune of working with Satomi Matsumura, who photographed some really great looks put together by Shari O’Dwyer using some of my designs.

Out of strange coincidence this was the first (but far from the last) time Miguel and I got to work together on a shoot.

It’s been over 5 years since we first started talking about our ideas on fashion so its hard not to be chuffed seeing things beginning to materialise. The ideas that came out of just a few short hours are a strong affirmation of the amazing projects we will collaborate on in the future.

It’s been incredibly difficult to stay focused on making numbers of items rather than experimenting with new pieces. My focus has never been on production, rather on designing unique pieces, so this sharing of my work is an experiment in itself. I have slipped a few new designs in while preparing for the markets though and have made a little more progress towards the designs for my exhibition. There is a photo at the end of the new efflorescence rings.. I’ve started casting all of these in a high purity tarnish resistant silver.

Lastly, if you get the chance, please visit me at Finders Keepers on the weekend of July 7th and 8th. This is a free event and there will be bands planning and lots of great designers will have their works on display. I will have a space right near the stairs down to the bands.
